The Forza club in Bunbury is hosting their annual regatta event on Saturday, 10 February 2018. As always, the regatta has a unique and fun race format, so be sure to read the information sheet and encourage your club members to enter a crew.
For those on the State Team, remember that there will be a training camp the following day (Sunday).
If DBWA get less than 8 responses the course will not be proceeding, noting priority will be provided to coaches and sweeps – with a maximum number of 16 course attendees.
In addition to the above DBWA have agreed to provide the following funding towards CPR and first aid requirements. Note there are differences in funding depending on whether or not one is a coach or sweep.
DBWA will run a CPR Course in May and another in Nov 2018. These course will be fully funded for any member (see above for class size limits).
Should you not attend the arranged courses, it will be up to the member to arrange and pay for their own CPR course in full (see discount information, below). The courses for this year will be held at the Royal Life Saving venue at Mt Claremont.
DBWA will provide $40 subsidy towards a First Aid course completed by a current Coach/Sweep ONLY. This will be paid only through club on viewing of receipt, a legible copy of which must be scanned and forwarded to
It’s that time of year again, that time when our fabulous Forza friends hold their annual regatta event and entice all other clubs and paddlers to join them for a fun-filled evening!
This year the goal is to beat your club’s fastest time posted this season at Champion Lakes over 200 m. See the brochure for more details (yes, you can participate even if your team doesn’t have a history in the 200 m races).
The Amazons are holding a ‘come and try’ session on Saturday 8 October 2016. All interested paddlers are welcome — please see Amazon flyer 2016 for the necessary information about where to go and what to wear!
Saturday events, pre-marathon day – On Saturday afternoon there is a coaching clinic for juniors; those paddlers who are not attending may wish to come for a gentle sight-seeing paddle in the Denmark club’s dragon boat. Or unload yours and do a training session of your own, then you might like to join us for dinner with the juniors.

Sunday Lunch, Presentation and Raffle draw – Sausage sizzle and sandwiches available for lunch and presentation will be at Lions Club (No bar available, some drinks available or BYO.)

8:30am – Sweep and Crew Captain brief
8:50am – Dotting of the eye ceremony
9:00am/9:15am – Marathon Start
10.30/11am – load boats, clean up, change
then walk/drive to Lions Club for lunch and presentation.
The Australian Auroras coaches are looking for junior athletes!
The Aurora coaches are searching for junior athletes who have the potential to try out and train with the U16 and U18 Australian Aurora dragon boat teams. These teams will be travelling to China in 2017 with the Australian Senior teams to compete at the 13th World Nations Dragon Boat Championships. Traditionally the World Championships can attract paddlers from up to 20+ countries.
You don’t need to be a current Dragon Boat paddler to try out.Clinic will use land based information sessions and practical paddling demonstrations with all attendees participating in paddle training.
Open to all paddlers 12-18yrs of age.Enrolment is not limited to experienced paddlers, non-paddlers welcome. Club members from any club are welcome to invite their friends to enrol. Attendees not belonging to DBWA will be required to have parent/guardian sign the waiver indemnity form.
Coaching clinic runs from 3 pm to 6 pm on Saturday 14 May 2016Junior participants are invited to attend an evening meal from 6 pm to 7.30 pm at no extra charge (parents and family welcome to attend for $5 per head).
